To protect valves, rings, and cylinder head components from excessive wear, Bardahl has developed Instead of Lead, a safe valve and cylinder head lubricant.
This environmentally friendly product lubricates as well as, or even better than, the lead used in gasoline. Bardahl Instead of Lead is registered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency. The Problem: Valves and cylinder head components in vehicles manufactured in the early 1970s, and in marine and agricultural equipment manufactured before 1975, require high lead content in gasoline to prevent valve wear, cylinder head wear, and engine failure.
Without the protection of a lubricant, valve seats wear and recede into the cylinder head, resulting in loss of compression, loss of power, and increased fuel consumption.
And ultimately, if the valves no longer seal properly, the engine will fail. In cars manufactured after 1980, whose engines are regularly exposed to high speeds, the valves and cylinder heads are not adequately lubricated by using unleaded fuel.
The solution: Bardahl Instead of Lead prevents direct metal-to-metal contact, which causes excessive wear.
This high-temperature protection is maintained continuously when Instead of Lead is added to gasoline. It prevents excessive wear on valve seats and cylinder head surfaces in both low-lead and unleaded gasoline. Benefits:

Bardahl Instead of Lead is safe to use in all engines, whether in leaded or unleaded gasoline.
Add to a full tank of fuel at every fill-up. The mixing ratio is indicated on the packaging.
One bottle is sufficient for 250 liters of gasoline. Not suitable for engines with a catalytic converter.
