Bardahl Instead of Lead GOLD has the same effective valve and valve seat protection features as the original Instead of Lead, but with one crucial difference: this lead substitute contains a powerful octane booster.

The problem: Valves and cylinder head components in vehicles manufactured in earlier years require high lead levels in gasoline to prevent valve wear, cylinder head wear, and engine failure.
Without the protection of a lubricant, valve seats wear and sink into the cylinder head, resulting in loss of compression, power loss, and increased fuel consumption.
Ultimately, if the valves no longer seal properly, the engine will fail.
In cars whose engines are regularly exposed to higher speeds, the valves and cylinder head are not adequately lubricated by using unleaded fuel.
The solution: Bardahl Instead of Lead Gold prevents direct metal-to-metal contact, which causes excessive wear. This high-temperature protection is maintained continuously when this lead substitute is added to gasoline.
It prevents excessive wear on valve seats and cylinder head surfaces in both low-lead and unleaded gasoline. To increase the octane rating, this lead substitute also contains an octane booster.
